A funeral mass will be held for Alvin R. Mast, 75, of Kalona, Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wellman with Father Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held all day Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona 1 st Responders and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Alvin Ray Mast was born June 6, 1936 in Parnell, Iowa the son of Noah and Fannie (Yoder) Mast. He was united in marriage to Wilma Troyer, the couple later divorced. He was then married to Beverly Chalupa Butterbaugh. Alvin was a farmer and drove trucks over the road. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends, driving truck and camping.
Survivors include his wife Bev of Kalona, three children, Rita (Terry) Fowler of Keswick, Iowa, Rollin Mast of Kinross, Iowa, Donna Mast of Littleton, Colorado, three step children, Scott (Karen) Butterbaugh of Riverside, Iowa, LeaAnn (Chris Burns) Lindemann of Kalona, Denise (Ben) Culbertson of Kalona, Iowa, seven grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, four siblings, Arvilla (John) Waters of Kalona, Ida (Herman) Riegsecker of Middlebury, Indiana, Wilbur (Elsie) Mast of Riverside and Mary Kay Blosser of Washington, Iowa.
His parents, a daughter-in-law, Tammi Mast and a step granddaughter, Haley Coppes, preceded Alvin in death.
