Alta S. Mast was born at the Mast family home where she passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011.  She was the daughter of Sam and Katie Gingerich Mast.

Alta attended rural school in the community.

She was co-owner and bookkeeper for the Community Country Store for many years.

Alta accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth and was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church.  She remained a faithful member until her end.

Alta is survived by 12 siblings and spouses.  They are Eldora (Chriss R.) Yoder of Kalona, Alvin (Dorothy) Mast, Parsonsburg, MD, Lloyd (Vesta) Mast, Lizzie (Melvin) Yoder and Dorothy Mast all of Kalona, Magdalena (David) Bender, Aylmer, Ontario, Clara (Elmer T.) Miller, Fred (Mary Pearl) Mast, Freda (Monroe) Miller, Esther Mast, Edna (Henry T.) Miller and Mahlon (Ruth Anna) Mast all of Kalona.   Also surviving are 75 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and four aunts and uncles; Cora and Mose Yoder, Ida Mullet, Pauline Schrock and Dorothea Gingerich.

Preceding Alta were her parents, two sisters, a stillborn infant and Verna, and three nieces and one nephew.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their visits, prayers, food, help and sympathy that has been given them.
