Alice B. Goff, 94 of Washington, died Monday, May 03, 2004 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the Funeral Home with family present from 6-8:00 P.M. Memorials in the name of Alice B. Goff may be designated to the American Heart Association.
Alice was born February 12, 1910 at Washington, Iowa the daughter of Arthur and Bessie (Ritchey) Wead. She attended rural school and graduated from Washington High School in 1927. She graduated with a Teaching Certificate from Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa and taught rural schools 2 years. She was united in marriage Clarence W. Goff on April 16, 1932 in Washington
Alice was a lifelong resident of Washington County. Lived on the farm north of Washington for 10 years, then moved to Washington where her husband owned and operated the John Deere Stores in Washington and Wellman and later Goff’s Real Estate with their son Ronald Goff for over 30 years. Has been a lifelong member of the United Presbyterian Church, a member of the Fortnightly Club, Historical Society, and the Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years. A licensed Real Estate Broker and secretary bookkeeper at Goff’s Real Estate since 1956. She enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening and flowers.
Survivors are one son Ronald A. Goff, grandsons Timothy A. Goff and James M. Goff, of Washington and Stephen D. Goff and Gary C. Goff of Iowa City and great grandchildren Nicholas Stephen Goff and Jessica Elizabeth Goff of Iowa City, and Jillian Frances Goff of Washington, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Bessie (Ritchey) Wead, her husband Clarence W. Goff June 7, 1990 and son Dean L. Goff in 1972 and two brothers Robert C. Wead and Earl E. Wead, and sister Ruth L. Holden.
