Alberta Mae (Boese) Miller, 91, of Wayland, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, surrounded by her children.
Celebration of life services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Nathan Luitjens and Rachelle Luitjens officiating. Burial will follow at the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday with the family present from 4 – 7 PM at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. Memorials may be designated to Sugar Creek Mennonite Church or Parkview Home.

Alberta Mae (Boese) Miller was born September 6, 1923 the daughter of Albert and Anna (Steffen) Boese at Wayland, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm near Wayland, Iowa with one sister, Carol Garrett and one brother, Arley Boese. On July 11, 1943 she was married to Orval Joseph Miller at an early morning ceremony at her parent's home near Wayland. They were blessed and are survived by three sons and one daughter: Stanley L. and wife Karole, Lucy A. and husband Irvin Leichty, Steven J. and wife Rhonda and Sheldon R. and wife Lori, all of Wayland. They were also blessed with 11 grand children, 24 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Garret of Wayland.
She was a help mate during the farming years and handled being a wife, mother and then bookkeeper for her husband Orval for over 40 years at Miller Plumbing and Heating. Her hands were not idol as she made, with much love, a quilt for each child, grandchild and great grandchild. As a child she attended Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and was a faithful member her entire life. She loved her church, her family, her friends, playing cards and gardening, especially canning sweet corn.
Preceding Alberta in death were her parents, her husband Orval, and her brother, Arley Boese.
