Albert Venzke

A celebration of life for Albert Venzke, 99, of Iowa City, Iowa will be held Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:30AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  Burial will follow at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Iowa City.  Visitation will be held Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 4-7PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.  Albert Venzke died Friday, August 05, 2011 at the Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Branch.

Albert R. Venzke was born January 6, 1912 in Frytown, Iowa, the son of Reinhardt and Theresa (Liebe) Venzke.  He was united in marriage to Irene Greazel in April of 1934 in Davenport, Iowa.  Albert was a mechanic for the Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company.  He was a member of the Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working and taking care of his cars.  Albert was very active in the Iowa City Senior Center for many years and especially enjoyed playing bid Euchre there.

Survivors include his daughter, Alyce (Ahmad) Toloui of Iowa City, a son, Donald (Lois) Venzke of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, four grandchildren, Laura Venzke-Hilton, Theresa Venzke, Katherine Venzke and Ramin Toloui, and five great grandchildren, Jake, Helena and Weston Venzke-Kondo, and Aza and Benson Venzke-Kitia.

Preceding Albert in death were his parents, his wife Irene, two brothers, Herman and William Venzke and one sister, Clara Graper.
