Harold E. Peterseim
Harold E. “Short” Peterseim has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1949. Short is a WWII veteran - he served in the Marine Corps and is a 50 year member of the masonic lodge. He is a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club, and the Area Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in developing and building the Kalona Historical Society. Short is still active at the funeral home and in his free time can be found fishing on the Iowa River.

Janeth G. (Holden) Peterseim has been involved in the funeral business since Short and she purchased the home in 1963. A member of the Kalona United Methodist Church and the Lioness Club, Jan also serves as secretary of the board for the Area Chamber of Commerce. Jan has been very active in developing and promoting Kalona attractions, including organizing the Kalona booth at the State Fair for the last 18 years. Jan is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoys golfing, skiing, and spending time with her granddaughter, Sydney.
 
Meg A. Scarff

Meg A. Scarff is the daughter of Short and Jan Peterseim and has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1994. Meg is a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church, the Optimist Club, and the Area Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Hospice of Washington County Board, volunteers as a library aid at Kalona Elementary, and is currently enrolled in the Iowa Methodist Conference’s School for Lay Ministry. Her interests include playing the piano, reading, golfing, and yoga.

Chad M. Scarff is a licensed paramedic and works full time for Washington County Ambulance. At the funeral home he assists with services, sets monuments, and does most of the odd jobs. When Chad has free time, he enjoys golfing and fishing.
