Our History

In 1917, Rollie and Anna Barbara (Grabill) Peterseim established the Peterseim Funeral Home to serve the people of Kalona. Today the funeral home is still in the family, with Rollie’s son Harold E. “Short” and his wife Jan (Holden) Peterseim living and working in the home at 201 B Avenue.

The tradition of service continues with Short’s daughter Meg A. (Peterseim) Scarff. Meg received her license in 1994 and became the manager of the funeral home, making her the third generation of Peterseims to care for the community and its families. Meg’s husband Chad has recently joined the staff and helps with services and with setting monuments.
